Closure
MULTIPLE CLOSURES FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A HIGH-SPEED RAIL GRADE SEPARATION:
- Full road closure along the intersection of Cedar and Central avenues;
- Full road closure along Central Avenue, between Cedar and Orange avenues.
Closure will go into effect Friday, February 7 and will continue through Monday, March 31, 2025.

Detour
NORTHBOUND CEDAR AVENUE DETOUR ROUTE:
- Northbound traffic along Cedar Avenue will be detoured west on American Avenue, north on Orange Avenue, east on North Avenue, then north on Cedar Avenue.
SOUTHBOUND CEDAR AVENUE DETOUR ROUTE:
- Southbound traffic along Cedar Avenue will be detoured west on North Avenue, south on Orange Avenue, east on American Avenue, then north on Cedar Avenue.
EASTBOUND CENTRAL AVENUE DETOUR ROUTE:
- Eastbound traffic along Central Avenue will be detoured south on Orange Avenue, east on American Avenue, north on Maple Avenue, then east on Central Avenue.
WESTBOUND CENTRAL AVENUE DETOUR ROUTE:
- Westbound traffic along Central Avenue will be detoured south on Maple Avenue, west on American Avenue, north on Orange Avenue, then west on Central Avenue.
Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access will be maintained to all property and business owners.
Description
Fresno, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Tutor-Perini / Zachry / Parsons (TPZP), announces multiple closures along Central and Cedar avenues in Fresno for construction of a high-speed rail grade separation. Closure will go into effect Friday, February 7 and will continue through Monday, March 31, 2025.
This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County.
All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel. The public is asked to drive carefully and be extra cautious while traveling though the construction areas.
