Work is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, ending at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023.
Detour
Eastbound State Route 198 Traffic Detour
- Traffic going eastbound on SR 198 will detoured off SR 198 at the SR 43 exit,
north on SR 43, east on Grangeville Boulevard, then south on Sixth Avenue to
eastbound SR 198.
Westbound State Route 198 Traffic Detour
- Traffic going westbound on SR 198 will be detoured north on Sixth Avenue,
west on Grangeville Boulevard, then south on SR 43 to westbound SR 198.
Signage will be in place to direct traffic.
Description
Kings County, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture (DFJV), announces nighttime closures along State Route (SR) 198, between SR 43 and Sixth Avenue, in Kings County. This will include two nights of work on Monday, Oct. 9, and Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Work will include the installation of k-rail and shifting traffic slightly to construct and extend the Hanford Viaduct over the highway.
This work is part of Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3), the 65-mile stretch of high-speed rail between East American Avenue in Fresno County
and one-mile north of the Tulare-Kern County line.
All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel.
