Closure
Road closure along Avenue 18 ½, between Hanover Drive and El Paso Road in Madera County for ongoing construction of a high-speed rail grade separation.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 12 and will continue through Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026.

Detour
ROAD 26 TO EASTBOUND AVENUE 18 ½ DETOUR:
- Traffic going northbound on Road 26 to eastbound Avenue 18 ½ will be detoured east on Avenue 18 1/4, then north on El Paso Road to Avenue 18 ½.
ROAD 26 TO WESTBOUND AVENUE 18 ½ DETOUR:
- Traffic going northbound on Road 26 to westbound Avenue 18 ½ will be detoured west on Vine Road, north on Daley Road, west on Ridgedale Drive, then north on El Vado Drive to Avenue 18 ½.
AVENUE 18 ½ TO NORTHBOUND ROAD 26 DETOUR:
- Traffic going northbound on Road 26 will be detoured south on El Vado Drive, east on Ridgedale Drive, north on Daley Rd, then east on Vine Road to Road 26.
Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Lighting and noise levels will be monitored and maintained at required levels following Cal/OSHA standards and requirements. Access will be maintained for all property and business owners.
Description
Madera County, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Tutor-Perini / Zachry / Parsons (TPZP), announces a road closure along Avenue 18 ½, between Hanover Drive and El Paso Road in Madera County for ongoing construction of a high-speed rail grade separation. Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Tuesday, Jan. 12, through Thursday, Jan. 14, 2026.
This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County.
All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel. The public is asked to drive carefully and be extra cautious while traveling though the construction areas.
