Closure

Full road closure at Kansas Avenue between SR 43 and 10th Avenue in Kings County beginning Monday, Oct. 17 and will continue through February 2023.

This work is part of construction of a high-speed rail overcrossing, allowing traffic to travel over the high-speed rail alignment.

Detour

EASTBOUND TRAFFIC:
Traffic going eastbound on Kansas Avenue will be detoured north on 10th Avenue, east on Kent Avenue, south on SR 43, and east onto Kansas Avenue.

WESTBOUND TRAFFIC:
Traffic going westbound on Kansas Avenue will be detoured north on SR 43, west on Kent Avenue, south on 10th Avenue, and west on Kansas Avenue.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access will be maintained for all property and business owners. Pedestrian access will be restricted.

Description

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture (DFJV), announces a full road closure at Kansas Avenue between State Route (SR) 43 and 10th Avenue in Kings County for continued work on a high-speed rail overcrossing. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 17 and will continue through February 2023.

This work is part of Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3), the 65-mile stretch of high-speed rail between East American Avenue in Fresno County and one-mile north of the Tulare-Kern County line.

All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel.
