Closure

MULTIPLE ROAD CLOSURES:

  • Road closure along Herndon Avenue, between the northbound State Route (SR) 99 to Herndon Avenue off-ramp and Riverside Drive;
  • Road closure along Golden State Boulevard between Herndon Avenue and Veterans Boulevard.

Work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. starting Friday, Jan. 30, through Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.

Golden State Boulevard will remain closed through 2027. Construction schedules are subject to change.

Access will be maintained to all property owners and businesses in the area. Pedestrian access will be restricted in some areas.

 

Detour

WESTBOUND HERNDON AVENUE TO SR 99:

  • Traffic going west on Herndon Avenue to SR 99 will be detoured south on Riverside Drive, then south on Veterans Boulevard to SR 99.

SOUTHBOUND SR 99 TO EASTBOUND HERNDON AVENUE:

  • Traffic going south on SR 99 to eastbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured to the Veterans Boulevard exit, north on Veterans Boulevard, north on Riverside Drive, then east on Herndon Avenue.

SOUTHBOUND SR 99 TO WESTBOUND HERNDON AVENUE:

  • Traffic going south on SR 99 to westbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured south on Golden State Boulevard, west on Kathryn Way, then west on Herndon Avenue.

GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD (NORTH OF HERNDON AVENUE) TO SOUTHBOUND GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD:

  • Traffic going southbound on Golden State Boulevard from SR 99 will be detoured south on SR 99, exit on Veterans Boulevard, then proceed north on Veterans Boulevard to Golden State Boulevard.

NORTHBOUND GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD TO EASTBOUND HERNDON AVENUE (EAST OF GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD):

  • Traffic going north on Golden State Boulevard to eastbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured north on Veterans Boulevard, then north on Riverside Drive to Herndon Avenue.

NORTHBOUND GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD TO WESTBOUND HERNDON AVENUE (WEST OF GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD):

  • Traffic going north on Golden State Boulevard to westbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured south on Veterans Boulevard, north on SR 99, exit on Herndon Avenue, then west onto Herndon Avenue.

HERNDON AVENUE AT GOLDEN STATE BOULEVARD TO EASTBOUND HERNDON AVENUE:

  • Traffic on Herndon Avenue from the northbound SR 99 off-ramp will be detoured south onto Grantland Avenue, east on Shaw Avenue, north on Veterans Boulevard, north on Riverside Drive, then east on Herndon Avenue.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access will be maintained to all property owners and businesses in the area.

Description

Fresno, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Tutor-Perini / Zachry / Parsons (TPZP), announces multiple closures along Herndon Avenue and Golden State Boulevard in Fresno to begin work on a high-speed rail grade separation. Work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. starting Friday, Jan. 30, and will continue through Monday, Feb. 9, 2026. Construction schedules are subject to change.

This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County.

All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel. The public is asked to drive carefully and be extra cautious while traveling though the construction areas.
