Closure

Multiple Road Closures:

  • Road closure along Herndon Avenue between the northbound State Route (SR) 99 to Herndon Avenue off-ramp and Weber Avenue;
  • Road closure along Golden State Boulevard between Kathryn Avenue and Veterans Boulevard.

Work is scheduled from 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025.

Construction schedule and detour routes are subject to change.

 

Detour

Westbound Herndon Avenue Detour:

  • Traffic going westbound along Herndon Avenue will be detoured south on Riverside Drive, south on Veterans Boulevard, west on Shaw Avenue, then north on Grantland Avenue to Parkway Drive.

Eastbound Herndon Avenue Detour:

  • Traffic along Parkway Drive to eastbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured south on Grantland Avenue, east on Shaw Avenue, north on Veterans Boulevard, then north on Riverside Drive to Herndon Avenue.

Southbound Sr 99 To Eastbound Herndon Avenue:

  • Traffic along southbound SR 99 to eastbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured to the Veteran Boulevard off-ramp, north on Veterans Boulevard, north on Riverside Drive to Herndon Avenue.

Northbound Golden State Boulevard To Eastbound Herndon Avenue Detour:

  • Traffic along northbound Golden State Boulevard to eastbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured north on Veterans Boulevard then west on Riverside Drive to Herndon Avenue.

Northbound Golden State Boulevard To Westbound Herndon Avenue Detour:

  • Traffic along northbound Golden State Boulevard will be detoured south on Veterans Boulevard, west on Shaw Avenue, then north on Grantland Avenue to Parkway Drive.

Northbound Sr 99 To Eastbound Herndon Avenue Detour:

  • Traffic along northbound SR 99 to eastbound Herndon Avenue will be detoured to the Veterans Boulevard off-ramp, north on Veterans Boulevard, then north on Riverside Drive to Herndon Avenue.

Northbound Sr 99 To Westbound Herndon Avenue Detour:

  • Traffic along northbound SR 99 will be detoured to the Veterans Boulevard off-ramp, south on Veterans Boulevard, west on Shaw Avenue, then north on Grantland Avenue to Parkway Drive.

Northbound Golden State Boulevard Detour:

  • Traffic along northbound Golden State Boulevard will be detoured east on Veterans Boulevard to northbound SR 99.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access will be maintained to all property owners and businesses in the area. Pedestrian access will be restricted in some areas.

Description

Fresno, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Tutor-Perini / Zachry / Parsons (TPZP), announces road closures along Herndon Avenue and Golden State Boulevard in Fresno for construction of a high-speed rail grade separation. Work is scheduled to begin 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025. Construction schedule and detour routes are subject to change.

This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County.

All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel. The public is asked to drive carefully and be extra cautious while traveling though the construction areas.
